I suppose it depends on the term live. As long as you are in hospital on a special machine that pumps the blood around your body you are still alive but you would be asleep. It is also possible to transplant another persons heart into your body and even scientist have created the first fully functioning plastic heart. Although, it is nowhere near as good as the one you have and you have to go back every couple of years to have it replaced i think.

So you aren’t really live without a heart but you can live if you have a spare and an awesome surgeon to fit it!!!!!!!!

I hate to disagree with Justin but sometimes this happens between scientists.

No one could live without a heart. Even in hospital the heart is the most difficult organ (along with the liver) that the hospital can do nothing about. There is no machine that can pump the blood for you. They can operate on your current heart and try to get it working, they could add tubes to your heart and add pumps that assist it. But you cannot live without having your own heart for them to do something with.

As Justin said though, you could get a heart transplant if yours no longer worked, but this is very difficult because it is rare to get an organ donor that gives you a heart.
