• Question: How long can they keep you in hospial after you give birth?

      I think the doctors will keep you in hospital until they think you are ready/safe to leave. It can be quite short I think like under a day.

      This depends on whether there are complications and how long it takes for the baby to come out. Sometimes this can be under 4 hours and so the mother and baby can go home after a day.

      If there are complications, like the baby takes longer to come out, this can increase to 3-4 days. If there are severe problems with the mother or baby they can be kept in the hospital for weeks.
