      This really depends on the bird. Some have to rarely flap their wings to stay in the air. Others like the humming bird flap their wings at least 10 times a second which means in a day it flaps its wings 864,000 times in 24 hours.

      Some birds are amazing. there is a bird called the bar-headed goose. it can migrate over Everest in one day. this is an amazing fact because 1) it taken humans many weeks to climb everest because of the conditions. 2) someone at a science conference once said that flying is one of the most energy demanding forms of movement. indeed there is intense study of this goose as we want to know how it is able to manage the amazing flight.
