  Because so few people have spent a lot time in space scientists did not know the answer to this until recently. I can only comment on what I have read, but basically they looked at 27 astronauts and in all of them they had problems with their eyes and brains when scanned. This seems to have come from radiation but they’re not sure at the moment.
