100 years ago the average lifespan would be 50 years old. But in 2012 the average lifespan is 80 years old. This is a massive difference and is due to the discoveries made in science about the human body.

As we get older our heart starts to get weaker and stops working which causes death. I found this interesting and wanted to understand what is going wrong and why the heart cannot keep beating for 100 years or more.

I want to help people have better and longer lives. So many people suffer from heart problems and its a massive problem in the world. But by understanding how the heart works, we can better understand how to fix it when it goes wrong, and how to look after it better, which will save lives.
