Plants cells have many different things inside them but the most important ones are called chlorophyll which gives the plant the green colour (most of the time).

The chlorophyll absorbs the sunlight and uses that for energy and takes in carbon dioxide as well. Once it has used up the energy it releases oxygen as a waste product.
