This is a really good question, mainly because its true and not true at the same time!

We know very little about the brain because it is soooooooo complex. But when people say we only use 3% of our brain, what they mean is that we only use a small area of our brain at one time and we will use a different area later on in the day.

We all use of our brain at some point during the day, but not all of it at once.

You will use a different part of your brain for answering questions during maths, throwing a ball in the playground and falling asleep in biology.

Even figuring out where the nearest super market is, or making up an excuse why your homework is missing uses completely different parts of the brain but since you dont do these all at the same time (you couldnt if you tried) we do only use a small % of our brain at any time, with the largest value being around the 10% mark.
